Will future generations be interested in the lives of our ancestors? It is difficult to answer this question. Just in the last 100 years, our lives have changed enormously. Progress is always present: new life styles and ways of communication as well as mobility are developing all the time. «The good old days» will never return - and that’s a good thing. But should they not be preserved in one form or another?

Our task

The Swiss Open-Air Museum Ballenberg, with 100 buildings gives an impressive picture of everyday life in former days. Old crafts and customs are nurtured, demonstrated and preserved here in the Museum. Adults and children can get to know an enormous variety of farm animals, some of which are no longer found in our everyday lives.

Sponsoring a tree
|

|
The maintenance of our gardens, trees and meadows is very demanding. We try to put the correct plants with the corresponding groups of houses. You can help us to achieve long-term projects such as the cultivation of a chestnut grove or the planting of mulberry trees.
By becoming a sponsor you are helping to preserve and add to the variety of trees. Your contribution will be used for their cultivation and upkeep.

Since the season of 1996, Ballenberg has been home to all the native domestic farm animals. From the middle of April to the end of October, they delight both young and old and make the Museum more lively and interesting.
By becoming a sponsor you are helping to preserve this diversity of animals. We will use your contribution for the upkeep and feeding costs of one of them.

With 100 buildings from all parts of the country, the Swiss Open-Air Museum Ballenberg is stretched to the limit, where the maintenance and restoration of the houses is concerned.
By sponsoring a house you can help to preserve a historical building of your choice. Your contribution will be used to help with the upkeep and running costs of that house.
