Although the Open-Air Museum Ballenberg is situated in the German-speaking part of Switzerland, it is also a great destination to visit and (re)discover for both for old friends and young newcomers from the French-speaking part of the country. The «Association of the Romandy Friends of the Ballenberg» (French: ARB - Les Amis Romands du Ballenberg) promotes and supports the activities of the Open-Air Museum Ballenberg especially in the western, French speaking part of Switzerland.
From the shores of Lake Geneva to the mountains of canton Jura and Berne, all French speaking cantons are represented in the Ballenberg museum. The ARB contributed actively to save historically unique buildings, such as f. ex. the historically important Gin from Ecoteaux VD (534).
On the occasion of the annual general assembly, the association invites its members to join for an excursion and visit a different canton each year in order to discover the unique rural cultural heritage specific to a given area.
