From Flax to Linen

In our modern world the technical terms sound quaint: the flax is carded, retted, crushed, swingled, spun and woven. In the old days these were everyday activities in the Swiss countryside. Try your hand at spinning the thread until you have made some fine linen cloth. Logging with horses in the forest. Location: forest area near the Public Works Barn from Aarau AG (695).

11 am - 4 pm: Barrel organ gathering. Antique barrel organs will be played at seven locations throughout the museum grounds. The exact locations an be found here.

11 - 12 am: Mule riding at the Farmhouse from Ostermundigen BE (331).

12 am / 1 pm / 2 pm / 3 pm: Storytelling about how flax came to humans. Duration approx 25 minutes, in German. Location: hayloft of the Farmhouse from Ostermundigen BE (331).

2 pm: Presentation and mule show in the arena near the Barn from Faulensee BE (341).
