Experience lime burning live. Before concrete and cement triumphed, lime mortar was used for construction. Do you know how it was manufactured?
For mortar, plaster and limewash, limestone was heated in an oven to more than 1000°C and then «extinguished» with water after cooling. This technique from the past has been revived at Ballenberg and continued according to old traditions.
At the Lime Kiln (491) you can experience for yourself how spectacular the firing process can be as night draws in. Learn everythng about the craft from the lime burning professionals.
