Families and children

Our family paradise covers an area of 66 hectares. Here, families with children can explore parlours, bedrooms and stables, make friends with more than 200 farm animals and learn traditional handicrafts in our workshops or during various interactive activities. There’s always something to do at Ballenberg!

There’s plenty to discover at our open-air museum: what were children’s rooms like in the past? What toys did they play with? How do you make cheese or cover a roof? There’s no shortage of activities to keep younger visitors and their parents busy: from trying things out for yourself during an array of interactive sessions, to peering over craftspeople’s shoulders in Ballenberg’s workshops; and from learning about all kinds of farm animals at the petting enclosure to letting off steam to your heart’s content at Ballenberg’s playgrounds.
