The Swiss Museum Prize 2026 honours exceptional museum programmes. Public votes will be used to select the “Best Mediation for All Generations”, and the Swiss Open-Air Museum is one of the nominees. If you have good memories of your visit, we’d love to receive your vote.
The nomination is a great recognition for us. For almost 50 years, Ballenberg has been preserving Switzerland’s artisanal and architectural heritage, bringing history to life. More than 100 historical buildings from all parts of the country, traditional crafts, farm animals, gardens and a wide variety of events invite our visitors to discover Switzerland with all their senses.

People from all over the world visit Ballenberg every year – families of all generations, groups of friends and school trips. Many associate their visit with personal memories: the smell of freshly baked bread, the clang of the forging hammer, conversations with our craftspeople or a walk through the cultural landscape of different cantons.
If you have experienced Ballenberg as a special place of Swiss history and culture, we would be delighted if you could vote for us.
By taking part, you are paying tribute not only to Ballenberg, but also to the importance of living cultural education and heritage that is preserved and accessible for current and future generations.
Thank you for your vote!
