The canton of Neuchâtel in the spotlight: Skittles, a little speciality market and Neuchâtel lace.
The Swiss Open-Air Museum is expanding its intangible cultural heritage with a new attraction: the Neuchâtel skittle alley, “Jeu de quilles neuchâtelois”. The venue for this traditional bowling game, which flourished in the 19th century, will be officially opened on 16 September 2024 with plenty of Neuchâtel traditions. Learn the art of the “jeu de quilles neuchâtelois” and have a go at this historic game yourself. Discover and enjoy Neuchâtel specialities from the market stalls and see how the old craft of bobbin-lace making Neuchâtel-style is performed. The opening ceremony will be held at the newly constructed Neuchâtel skittle alley by the La Recorne/La Chaux-de-Fonds farmhouse (111). Dive into the culture and traditions of the canton of Neuchâtel and enjoy an unforgettable day at the Swiss Open-Air Museum! Further information on the Neuchâtel skittle alley.
